An Even More Detailed Review of PrepExpert.com

After receiving some feedback about the SAT exams.  I wanted to write a more detailed review specifically about PrepExpert.com.  I gave the reasons in my other article that was titled The SAT Prep Course, I chose for my son.  There are many people who really wanted to know if learning with an online course was really just as good as a live course.  The answer is a definite YES!

The Basics of PrepExpert.com

The first thing to do when signing up for the course is to go to their site. They are now offering a $100 Gift Card   (edit: There are some other discount codes from time to time.  When I get them I will post them to my Facebook page.  Right here.)

Once you are signed up

Once you are signed up you will be sent an email that gives you detailed information on what you need to do to prepare for the upcoming live online classes.  

As you can see there is a student Dashboard where your child will login.  Once logged in you will see the following:

1.The Announcements.  This is just the first page you will see once logged in.  Any important notices will be posted here.  

2.Class Login – Is where you login to the classes

3.Schedule – As you can see it shows the class dates and times as well as the test dates.  

4.SAT Books – Here are all the workbooks that you will be using for the classes.  Once your child registers Prep Expert will email you links to download the E-books from Amazon.  

5.SAT Homework – There is homework that needs to be done every week before the start of class.  

6.SAT Tests – This is where all the SAT Tests can be found.  Download the tests and you can submit the tests with the link in the picture.

7. Recorded Classes – This is the option that is the most powerful.  The ability to watch any class in its entirety whenever you want is great.  Beyond the fact that you can see a missed class.  I love this feature the most!

8.College Resources – There are two resources that are provided.  Not much use to me but they are Scholly and College Logic.  Scholly is like Cappex which I personally use which is a very good resource and it’s FREE.  College Logic gives a free college review but it’s kind of expensive.  It’s a college prep coaching company.  Check it out and give some feedback if anyone uses it.  

9. Support – If you have any issues or questions go this section to email Prep Expert.  I didn’t have a use for it because everything was well explained within the site.

10. Order History – If you order more than one product like the weekend boot camp or take the ACT you can find your orders here.  

11. Referrals – If you want to earn some money and have some friends who are planning to take the SAT or the ACT this section is for you.  If you refer anyone that signs up for and takes an online course you will make $100.   Here is my referral link if anyone would like to help me run this site.  

**Important Money Saving Tip**

If you signed up in advance which is highly recommended you will save money.  Try signing up for a class at least two to three months before you plan on taking the class.  Why?  Because the cost of the class goes up in price the closer you get to the class start date.  So, even with the $200 discount, the price will be over $700.  Go here to sign up.

PrepExpert.com is the online SAT Prep course I chose for my son as mentioned in my earlier article.  My son took this course in the summer.  He is going to take the real SAT in October.  We will see what happens very, very soon.  

What I loved about Prep Expert

What I loved about the course was that it was done at my house.  My Tiger Mom and I never had to drive him anywhere to take the classes.  The classes themselves were taught by highly qualified teachers who have proven track records.  I didn’t have to go searching for great teachers.  The teachers were actual full-time SAT teachers who only did this.  Not some part-time gig just to make some extra side money.

I loved the price!  Most courses are considerably more in price and I’m not sure if the quality would be any better.  I found some local classes that were $1500 and up to $6000!  Some of them were for two 90 minute classes on the weekend!  Really?  Are you going to teach everything on the SAT in two 90 minute classes per week for five or six weeks?  Skeptical to say the least.  Prep Expert has two classes per week at three hours each day for six weeks.  

Like I said earlier the recorded classes are to me the best part of the program.  If you go to most live classes, once you’re done with the class you are done.  No redos. If you have the option of recorded classes it’s like watching a movie.  You miss parts of any movie when you watch it for the first time.   If you watch it again you will pick up things that you didn’t notice the first time around.  That’s a huge benefit that live classes don’t have.  Taking the SAT or ACT is more important than a movie so take it seriously.   

What I didn’t like about Prep Expert

There really was only one thing I didn’t like about the Program and that was the price.  As mentioned in my money-saving tip about the price.  I flipped flopped about which course to sign up and it ended up costing me money.  By waiting too late to sign up the price of the course went up over $100.  However, since the quality of the course was so good I didn’t mind.  The fault was completely mine.  Don’t wait to sign up as I did.  Sign up for the course right now!
