Hey Donna thanks for the helpful videos! I have a question about shadowing experience. I’m in canada so this experience is not required nor is it valued over any other experience we are passionate about in the community. I’m going to apply to US med school so I need some help in understanding what exactly you do as part of shadowing and how you even approach physicians for this. It seems like an invasion of privacy for the patients..I have research experience in a clinical setting where I shared an office with a doctor/PI in a hospital where he supervised our individual projects and we read over his patient charts for data entry purposes. I was wondering if that is considered shadowing experience? Or does it only include kind of watching over the doctor as he does his tasks? I’m not understanding how it works haha. Also would medical scribe be similar in experience? would med school consider med scribe more or less important than shadowing? What does a person do as a scribe? We also don’t have that term in canada! And how many hours do you recommend we do these activities for?

hey, Donna, I’m new to your channel and this video was really helpful, thanks!. u did not work in your third year, is it because of the MCAT? if yes, did you have to cut down on other activities to find more time to prepare for the MCAT? and also were your GPA and MCAT score really really good? just wanted to understand your overall profile and did you use youtube as an extracurricular activity while applying to med school. sorry, a lot of questions. thank you in advance. subscribed!
