I feel like this comment is gonna be long but the cultural shock is just so cool and you talked about your country and I learnt So I thought you’d like to know how it works in another country? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ

I live in Dominican Republic (a Caribbean island) and there’s like literally a “whole new world” if you compare both countries ways of applying to colleges! 1- We don’t do essays. We just go on the college website, fill out the application paper (just a bunch of information like your parents salaries, where you live etc) and collect all the info like your high school graduate certificate, a record of all your scores through high school, a birth certificate and a certificate of good behavior (if you’re 18.) and some other stuff, as you can tell, just a bunch of personal info.

After collecting everything, you just take it to The college you liked and submit it. Then they give you a date to take your admission test. DR is small island, all together in the national territory we don’t have more than 13-15 universities. They all have the same admission test. Is an online test with 100 question in which you will have different subjects; logic, math, language arts (which I think would be English in the US?), science and history. They give you around 2 hours or so.

Our main language is Spanish, but English is like our second so depending on what college you apply to you might have to take an English test. In My UNI If you came from a bilingual school you didn’t have to take it but I had to because mines wasn’t ๐Ÿ˜‚ it was really easy tho as I lived in Pennsylvania when I was younger. After both of those test that’s pretty much it. Just waiting for the response and if you got accepted, you’re in!

Here the public UNI works with semesters, just as you guys? And The private ones with four-months periods. Winter period, summer, and fall. Mines works with that system. I started this past January and I’m currently on break until May 8th when the next period (summer one) starts. So I’m pretty much starting, just a period ahead of you. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Oh and another thing is that we only have one stay-in college in the whole country! All the other ones are pretty much like school? You drive or take the bus and go everyday. Mines is in downtown Santo Domingo and I live in uptown, so like 12 mins away if there’s no trafficโ€”and there’s always traffic. Is like living in nyc! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Congrats on getting accepted! Loved this video, you’re way too cool! Can’t wait for all the upcoming ones! Love you megsssssssss! Ps; where is your sweater from? And hair looks amazing! ๐Ÿ˜ป
