The fact that this video exists is such a huge indictment on the college admissions process. When it gets to the point where Asians are sandbagging tests to look more “normal” we should be asking the question why whites’ scores are considered “normal” and not “lazy” or “inadequate” compared to the framework for Asian scores. Asians need to stop ascribing to this bullshit system and actually reform it for the better.

Asian people rely too much on the prestige of a university name, thinking it’ll open doors for them in the future. It’s not quite that simple. Read Wesley Yang’s “Paper Tigers.”

I think the reason Asian statistics in schools are better slightly is because of a fairly simple reason. A lot of people that move to another country are moving with the purpose of furthering their standard of living. A student studying abroad is usually planning to step up to a higher level of education. This innate motivation in many immigrants causes those students to study harder and those parents of students to push their children harder.

Asian students get good grades because in general the “dragon mom” stereotype is true to an extent. Not all parents, but many.

This is fucken Stupid. There is no magic formula. They either want you or they don’t. Other than standardized test, what objective bullshit can really measure this. Don’t lose sleep, if your decent you’ll at least get into some of the schools you want. Colleges don’t give a shit what you do on campus or what your character is as long as that tuition money is coming in.

rip silicon valley kids lol. literally 70% of the people I know in high school are all generic math/science/engineering kids who do extracurriculars only to impress the admissions officers. My friend founded a club based on recognizing and spreading awareness of PTSD in soldiers but everyone in the club gives no shits and just wants it to be on their transcript
