i had a massive dilemma when i was choosing universities, about whether to follow a humanities route or science, which i considered more practical. i’m british though and the system is different in that you go enrolled to a specific course and it’s quite difficult to swap that course, so i had an application ready for physics, an application ready for modern foreign languages, and an application ready for the two as a combined course. i ended up picking languages, which is what i really love, and even though it was a bit more risky with regards to graduate employability, i’m doing perfectly fine – i’ve lived in four different countries, and speak five languages, and that’s more rewarding to me than anything physics could have brought me. it’s all about getting your own fulfillment from what you love, it’s just a bit of a shame that humanities and more creative practices are often looked down upon.

Which of the UCs did you end up applying for? 🙂

at first I was kind of annoyed about you wanting to blow up so bad but now when I’ve been your subscriber for a month I honestly think you deserve tons of more subscribers because your videos are really helpful and good! Love xx

So interesting to watch how the college system in US works, so expensive it’s crazy. In my country the tuition in public universities is completely free and highly valued in EU.

You’ve honestly been the biggest help to me over the years regarding school. I used to watch your LOAF videos summer before my freshman year and then the gap year video really helped me a lot. Now I’m a high school graduate and I’m supposed to be starting community college in January and I’m planning on transferring to an out of state university after two years. This information was so helpful. Thank you!
