i do wish blyth would stop using the word ‘democracy.’ there is no democracy, that’s why the elites can rule.

Blyth also called the brexit voters stupid for voting owt in front of and presumably playing up to an American audience. Blyth takes the yankee dollar but consistency is more convincing.

What he fails to address what is the alternative? It’s OK stating the obvious that the uneducated poor have been largely neglected, and he is right that in the UK and USA the overwhelming difference between rich and poor has never been as wide. Yes we should tax the rich more. Stop the ‘boys club’ running all the countries operations by making sure all that there is a price to pay in tax revenue from the overpaid. That is a UK / USA Issue not an EU one. Globalization is here to stay with the advent of the Internet for communications and containerization for shipping moving things round the planet has never been easier, it cannot be stopped. The EU is probably the best the world has to offer in the form of social welfare for it’s workers. Southern Europe is an entirely different thing altogether Greece brought about most of it’s own downfall by over borrowing, tax avoidance and corruption.
